The process of creative collaboration is an exhilarating mystery as talent and craft come together in new and unexpected ways. What joy to work in the recording studio with my incredible co-producer,
musician and friend, John Guth, who brings out the best in each song. Whether he's working in the studio as a musician (playing guitar, bass, keyboard or any of a hundred percussion instruments) or as recording
engineer, his work is consistently inspired and meticulous. Plus, he's fun and has a great heart. Three of the songs (Easier Road, Angels are Dancing, and It's About Joy
) were co-written with my soul sister and friend, Beddy Sinkoff, who also sings ethereal harmonies that allow her warmth and energy to shine through. Additional wonderful harmonies and vocal arrangements
by Lisa Lipkin Werbin (and her vocal group, With Spirit Sing) bring even more energy and heart to the production. Music connects us all and we each have our own unique sound to add to the whole of the Universe.
Uni–verse. Let yourself sing, hum, chant and listen. When you open to music, your whole being vibrates. What could be better than that? Music is a powerful healer. The songs on this recording are intended to uplift and inspire, touch the heart, and nourish the soul, helping the world heal, a song at a time, through all of life's transitions — the changes, the losses, the challenges, the triumphs and the dreams that are part of the human experience. A good friend of mine worships at a church that houses three different congregations, each of a different color. She asked me to write a song to help unify them and
"What Color is Spirit?" is the result. After the tragic events of September 11, and the outpouring of love around the world, the song seems a fitting and healing reminder that
